Have you ever felt like a cat in a tree?

The world is filled with heartbreaks and bad news, but this week has been a story of hope.

Last weekend was a very neurotic and anxiety filled weekend for me. “By chance” I was able to talk with one of the greatest witnesses for Christ in my life. It was so refreshing for me.

Hope.

imageThat Monday morning Jesus restored my soul. Let not your heart be troubled! It’s so easy for us to forget when we focus on the circumstance. We have people talking left and right at us and it can be easy to get overwhelmed with worldly chatter instead of remembering what Jesus said.

I read John chapters 14-16 and anyone in need of encouraging I highly recommend refreshing your mind and spirit.

Let not your heart be troubled!! Jesus sent the comforter. He was telling his disciples he would go away for a while but if he didn’t the comforter wouldn’t be with them. He was sharing the plan and while they may not have understood at the time a few days later they would.

Isn’t it great we can have Him with us all the time. We have hope and peace and joy. Jesus spirit. He won’t leave us.

imageMonday morning we had to call the fire department and when they left had members reporting there was a cat stuck in a tree. My coworker said she was not calling them back. We asked a fireman as he was leaving about it and he said they wouldn’t come for a cat, but to leave food at base of it as if a cat went up the tree it would come down.

Tuesday morning rolls around and there were more reports that this cat was still in there.

To make a long story short I can honestly say I’ve seen the fire department rescue a kitten out of a tree and it was one of the greatest days of my life.

I couldn’t be inside. I was sure I would be fired but how do you miss that opportunity??

They didn’t get it the first time as it was so frightened it was climbing higher and higher. It finally had nowhere else to go. They moved there truck blocking traffic and poked it with a pole. It was screaming and holding onto that branch for dear life. It finally had one arm holding on with all it had when it fell. It landed on all fours and bounced in the air and took off like crazy. It was a tiny gray kitten. It tried going up another tree. Now if you were a baby stuck alone in a tree for 2 days and all of a sudden someone knocked you out and were chasing you wouldn’t you be nuts? It was zigzagging and nobody could get near it.

They let it go and left some food out.

It was one of the best work days ever.

Now with all of that in mind aren’t we like the cat? We get ourselves in a tough situation and are backed in a corner. We would rather hold onto what is keeping us in bondage instead of letting go into the unknown.

What if I let go? I don’t know what will happen. It’s safer to stay trapped in your fear because you’ve grown comfortable in it. It’s your normal, but it doesn’t make it right. But, God is calling you out of it. He’s calling his sheep out of bondage and He leaves the 99 to go get the one that is missing and Heaven rejoices more over the one that is rescued and found.

You don’t know what will happen when you let go, but He will be there to catch you. It hurts to let go doesn’t it?

Let go. Trust God.
