It starts off small, doesn’t it.
A thought here and there.
The shoulda woulda couldas.
Then, you start thinking more and more about the what ifs. Regret starts seeping in about where your life is and where it’s not. How did you get here? If you would have done ‘this that and this’ you would be 7 steps ahead, but now you’re 1,000 miles behind.
Stop.
Stop right there.
You made choices.
You made those choices for a reason. Those decisions led you to where you are right now. There is no reason to look back with regret because you can’t go back and change it. Looking back should show the path God put you on to bring you where you currently are. You wouldn’t have learned what you needed to to become the person you are today had you taken that other path. Maybe it would have been easier and your life would be “easier” today, but because of the trials God taught you how to endure and depend on Him.
Nothing was in vain. Don’t let the devil tell you those things.
This is just a season. It won’t last. Sorrow may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Keep holding on. Keep moving forward.
Those choices had to be made. You are who you are because of them. You’re stronger. It was hard, but you did it. You are new today. You took that path.
It’s ok. Just keep going forward.
Satan has no rule now. There is therefore no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus that walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit (Romans 8). You are a new creature in Christ. Keep believing that and know he is ever faithful. He keeps His promises. He is the almighty God.
Your path was different, but it doesn’t make it less.
Always remember the moment He called you out of darkness.
You may not be where you want to be, but thank God you aren’t where you were.
