If you got what you prayed for…

Would you be ready to receive it?
If what you have begged God for showed up on your doorstep right this second, would you truly be excited? Are you sure you are ready to receive it and are prepared for the responsibility of tending to it? Or do you wish you had it to parade in front of others? Do you want it because everyone else has it or because you have something to prove? Do you want it because society says you should have it or because it’s the life God wants for you?

What do you get most out of receiving what you prayed for? Why do you want it so badly?

Would everyone see God when they saw your answered prayer, or would they say, “S/he got lucky?”. Would they know He’s the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and the God of miracles, signs, and wonders?

People will always see whatever they want in a given situation, but nobody can ever deny the power of God. They will try to ignore the obvious with their lips, but deep down, they know something bigger is going on.

They are just too arrogant to admit it.

tastybite-headshot4-bwlogoSometimes you have to reflect and see how God sees you. You can’t look through your own eyes or the eyes of someone else. The only One who gets an opinion on your life is the One who created you.

I don’t see a 31-year-old who is “still working here” and “still single” and boring. I don’t see a girl who should be looked on with pity because of her quiet life. I don’t see someone who should be hounded about the next thing in her life as if she never gave it a thought. I don’t see a girl who is wasting her life because she isn’t living for this life. She is living for the next.

I see a girl who has been through more than she would have liked, but thankfully she didn’t go through what others did. I see a once broken girl with a heart torn to pieces, but God picked her up and gave her a new heart. I see a girl who used to struggle with crippling anxiety but learned “CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS, AND EVERY HIGH THING THAT EXALTETH ITSELF AGAINST THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD, AND BRINGING INTO CAPTIVITY EVERY THOUGHT TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST…” (2 Corinthians 10:5). I see a girl who learned her value doesn’t come from external things (friendships, money, work….) but comes through her relationship with Jesus.

I see a girl who learned the flesh vs. spirit war and lived to talk about it… ha!

I see a girl who learned to stop being so defensive and let God fight for her and has learned to wipe the dust from her feet. She has discovered God’s peace that cannot be found anywhere in this world, and it must be protected. I see a girl who was terrified of letting go, holding on white-knuckled and dripping with sweat, but learned to forget the former things and trust God’s ways and plans are good. I see a girl whose 24-year-old self would only dream of being who she is today, but not believing it was possible. I see a girl whose heart has been transformed entirely and able to love and receive love. I see a girl who has been given wisdom and discernment and that it’s her responsibility to use and protect them. I see a girl who was paralyzed with fear and learned perfect love casts out fear and is loved with abandon. I see a girl who knows what it’s like to want to give up and refuses to allow anyone else to feel that way. I see a girl who knows what it feels like to feel shame and has learned to be kind. I see a girl who knows a smile can go a long way and how someone treats you is not about you at all, but about them. I see a girl who has learned understanding will continue to walk with God and go where He leads. I see a girl whose heart was filled with bitterness and has learned forgiveness and to forgive and now is filled with joy.

“BUT JESUS BEHELD THEM, AND SAID UNTO THEM, WITH MEN THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE; BUT WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.” – MATTHEW 19:26

I see a girl who brought all her longings and desires and laid them at the feet of Christ in exchange for his mercy and grace. I see a girl who trusts in the One who is trustworthy and promises never to leave nor forsake her. Trials and hardships will come. God promises to be in the midst of the storms and be in the fire and be her protection. I see a girl who had to put down what she wanted most and, in return, gained the most excellent prize, which is the knowledge of Jesus Christ, her Lord. I see a girl who is learning that she will stumble sometimes, but shame has no place in her new identity as a Child of God, for nothing can separate us (Romans 8) from the love of Christ.

I see a girl who knows her life is a miracle because for the past five years God has flipped her life upside down to clean it out. He has refined and stripped what she held onto out of control because He is jealous for her. I see a girl who has found what True Love looks like. It is not flowers and charm but looks like an innocent man who was beaten, mocked, and hung on a cross with nails driven in his hands to save her and have her for eternity.

I see a girl who begged God to make her a wife. In the questions and waiting, He was making her His bride. I see a girl who met the love of her life… I AM before she ever was, but was always on His mind. He knew the story and plans He had just for her and could not wait to share them. I see a girl who met a man who waited for her. He stuck by her side in the lowest and ugliest of times. He loved her when she felt worthless. He was her peace when she was bitter and angry. He knew the darkest thoughts she had and showed her how much He cared about her and that she was worthy enough to be loved. There was nothing that could surprise or shock Him or run Him off. I see a girl who did not get what she wanted most because her God knew she would choose Him and would proclaim His goodness. I see a girl who met and was loved so much by the Creator of the World that she knows what love looks like, and nobody could make her settle for less. He replaced every void and anxious thought with hope and peace and a love that this world could never offer or live up to.

“I sought THE LORD and He heard me.  He delivered me from all my fears.” – Psalm 34:4 (I rather KJV which is different than mug version 😛 )

I see a girl who put the world behind her and chose to follow Christ.

I see a girl who knows God is right beside her all the time because she is the temple of the Holy Spirit and she will never walk alone.

I see a girl who knows when God says she is ready to receive what she’s prayed for He will send it at just the right time.

I see a girl who knows God is doing a work in her to prepare for what He has in store for her.

I don’t see a girl who lacks anything, but has everything she’ll ever need and is using what God gave her.
