Today is Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Lots of strange and bizarre injuries/tragedies happened this year.
While this tradition doesn’t mean anything to me I do enjoy eating King Cake which comes around once a year. (If you do not know what a king cake is I can only describe it as a giant cinnamon roll on steroids and a plastic baby is put on the inside 🙂 ) I am also enjoying a day off of work that I get to spend in my garden.
Some of us are catching beads from strangers and some of us are taking pine cones from the neighbors yard to make bird feeders
Last year I really learned to love a garden and learned how dangerous it is for me to go to gardening/home improvement stores. Yikes.
It is that time I’ve started fertilizing my plants to prepare the soil for spring. They will be ready in its time.
God is also making me a garden!
The things I’ve wanted to have but didn’t want to spend money people gave to me! I almost bought a bird feeder and Brent’s mom gave me one she was throwing out yesterday … just had to clean it. Today my coworker gave me a plant she thinks is sunflowers from seeds that fell and started growing (and all I’ve wanted was sunflowers)! I mentioned last Friday my planting plans and she told me about this and she would give me one.

Just like we prepare our garden soil God is preparing us. Our Father prepares us and prunes us. He cleans us up and cuts back what is not needed in our lives and hearts to make room for growth. He shows us our weaknesses so we can get the food from His word to become stronger where we need to get stronger and throw out that which is only killing us.

Moved my hibiscus into this new bigger pot and used that pot for sunflower and had empty one from transplanting rose to that bigger pot … so two sunflowers on left (coworker gifted to me 🙌🏼) and will watch and move them later to another spot
And when I say transplanted them I mean last night in rain cause nobody got time to wait for morning 😂💯

I knew something great started a few years ago when “suddenly” I desired to buy plants and I never desired to tend to anything and killed everything that crossed my path.
I have a Butterfly garden: Just when the caterpillar thought its life was over…
I am excited to see Monarchs and getting to see the process all over again. It’s always so exciting.

Now, it’s incredible and so satisfying to have a garden… to watch the flowers bloom witnessing how each one is unique and beautiful on its own while all serving a different purpose. But, when planted in a group creates a floral symphony that gives glory to the One who created them and attracting creatures who each are unique and serve their own purpose as well. The circle of life. “How smart”.
I’m in the midst of turning my garden around with organic nutrition food which will be another post I’m sure. Until then, I wait and watch with a smile and joy in my heart. 🙂
