Honing your skills at home…

Life, especially at the moment, is filled with fear and uncertainty.

To sum it all up the world is traveling at a high rate of speed right off of a cliff.  Nobody wants to speak up against it because the ones who are pointing out that there is danger ahead are labeled as the enemy and not letting others live their life the way they see fit.

In other news there is a blessing we have in all of this: time.  Not all of us, but most of us have been given extra time.  Yes, there is a legitimate reason to not see life through rose colored glasses, currently.  But, you can look at this time with despair or with hope.

I think spending time alone really gives you an idea of who you are.  There is nobody else around to influence your decisions.  You cannot worry about what others are doing or saying because they are not there.

A lot has happened during this “lock down”, which is an extremely short period of time  that appears my life has been flipped upside down.  Slowly, I’m realizing maybe God is turning it right side up.

To name a few:
A close family friend died: Sunflowers always face the sun: “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, but the word of our God shall stand for ever…”

I told an atheist I loved him: Can you really move forward until you tell someone you can’t be with you love them?

I realized the source of anxiety: Stop fooling yourself … do you trust God or yourself?

I let go of His hand: “Keep holding My hand” – He leads me beside still waters.

Woo!!  Lots have happened, but I prayed that God would get rid of anything that gets in the way of me and Him and in the process my whole life is getting rebooted.  Grief has a way of exposing you to you and you can either let it paralyze you or let it turn your life around.

I’ve been cleaning out my room and by cleaning it out I mean throwing away my past.  Man, it is so freeing to purge things.  Why do we hold on to things anyway?  We can’t take it with us when we go.
“Do no store up for yourselves treasures on earth where dust and moth will destroy.”

You’re emotionally attached to THINGS that are keeping you in bondage and you don’t really know why you can’t move forward.

In the process of changing my life I also got a hair cut.  It was not intentional to be this short.  My one request was to be able to put it in a side braid (because that’s easy and I do not want to spend a lot of time on it.)  My friend and I got to talking when suddenly I hear a gasp and see my hair in her hand.  I said, “Ok.  Give me a second.”  Screamed.  And said it’s ok… it will grow back.

Change is good.  It’s always a good day to start new.  We get this time to know God, our likes, our dislikes.  He shows us our heart and desires if we let Him.

Life is short.  Stop caring about what other people think.  You only get one chance to do this life right, so with every breath and every thought make it count.  You don’t have to go torching the world, but whatever you do make sure you are doing it for God and not man.

What is it you want most out of life?

Are you changing careers?  Are you trying to start your own business?  Are you aching for the desires of your heart?

Whatever it is pray about it and then do something about it.  Stop talking about it and do something about it.  Make changes for the direction you want your life to go.

“Stop asking God to guide your footsteps if you are not willing to move your feet.”

The Fruit of a childhood prayer: When you’re called to lead by example by just being you…

Think of this as a preparation season for the next.  God has given you this time so don’t waste it.  Time is the one thing you can never get back.  When you 99 years old looking back on your life will you be content and thankful or will you have regrets?

While everything is on lockdown it’s time to stop being afraid.

Plan/Take the trip.  Tell that person you love them.  Cut out toxic friendships.  Cut your hair.  Clean the closets.  Take the dance class.  Learn to sew.  Learn to cook.  Read a new book.  Try something new.  Learn the new skill you’ve been aching to try.  Take advantage of the internet and online videos.  There is no excuse anymore.  We live in the age of technology where knowledge is always at our fingertips.  Eat the food you have been dying to taste.

You don’t have to be rich to have joy at home or in your back yard.

We have been given this season… keep running the race.

“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me’.
