I know if you are reading this, you have no idea what I would possibly be talking about…
But, have you ever prayed for one thing for what seems forever, and God does not appear to be listening? You know He is faithful, but no matter how you phrase one particular set of prayers, it falls on what seems like deaf ears.
Do you feel like you are doing what you are supposed to be doing? You’re planted and saying what you’re supposed to be saying, and nothing appears to be changing?
Then, suddenly a circumstance changes, only never to have anything to do with that volume of prayers again. You’re not entirely sure what just happened or what that wasted time was all about, but know God had to do something with them.
Prayer does not change God’s mind, but it constantly changes ours. God uses our prayers and conversations with Him to change us. He is shaping us into HIS image and chipping ourselves and egos away.
Sometimes, we cannot see what He is doing because the growth is happening underneath or somewhere else. Suddenly, out of nowhere, things you’d been praying for are popping up, but it’s in a place completely unexpected and one you’d never seen coming.
You trust you’re doing what you are supposed to be doing, and one day you realize your prayers were not ignored. They were being used somewhere else, and for a purpose, you had no idea what and still have no idea what. The fruit of your prayers manifested in a foreign place while you were busy focusing on what you could see. The time you spent fighting to fix and change one circumstance, suddenly there is no fighting because God was busy working on His dream for you.
The whole time God is saying, “I heard you. That is a great idea, but let go and trust Me. I know you think you know what you want, but if you just let go and wait, you will see how worth it I am making it. What I have in store for you is infinitely better than anything you think is good.”
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” – Colossians 3:1-4
The last year was filled with so much despair, doubt, restoration, and grace. I do not deserve any of His goodness and can only rest in His grace. I cannot wait to see His plans unfold and live out His dreams. I’ve had enough of my own plans. I think choosing to live the George Costanza Rule of Opposites was a great idea thus far. Let go of what you think you want and live the life God wants.
He makes everything beautiful in its time.
This is the life that God is building, and so far, it’s worth every single tear.
