Ingrown toenail, rusty nail foot, a special Needs prom, and a visit from a special gentleman

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Last week was quite a week (insert cringe emoji here along with fire and a bomb), and Crissy shared this scripture that struck me when I read it. My last post mentioned several circumstances, including stepping on a rusty nail and having to get a tetanus shot. If only it stopped there…

“Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond to it.”

You know when you are stressed, and the tiniest thing is what sends you over the edge?? I will not go backward and explain it all, but God has a way of redeeming everything with simplicity, and my breaking point was the pilot light going out and not having hot water.

During this fiasco, I headed to Brent’s house to pick him up for his prom, and a special needs prom is exactly what my heart needed. Due to covid, it was postponed for two years, and everyone had a blast. The catering hall surprised everyone at the end with a New Orleans second line led by a Mardi Gras Indian and brass band.

To add to this, Ryan visited this weekend, which was a pleasant surprise as he was not supposed to be able to come to town until next weekend!

Since a picture is worth 1,000 words, a video describes the visit and our relationship much better than anything I could ever write.

Also, how blessed am I to be able to hang out with these two studs?!? Brent kept asking if Tunnel Guy (Ryan’s nickname for another post) was going to call on prom day. I said I was not sure and when I got to his house he asked again. I facetimed Ryan and Brent immediately said, “Hey, it’s Tunnel Guy!” without ever seeing him! Having someone who gets along with Brent is another answered prayer, but that’s a post for another day. 🙂

Your work ethic is not your worth

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3 This job can be very stressful and challenging at times. At the same…

Seasons in the Semi

Because of my scattered brain, I have at least three blogs going at once. I started with my favorite places to drive, which led to a focused post solely on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the fall and a reflection of Ecclesiastes: to everything there is a season. Which one will I post first? Will I…

romanticize your life

What a week. So much could be said about the state of the world and the horrific events that have occurred in our country alone. The absolute evil that exists and the cheering alongside of it can be debilitating. Most of America and I have felt so much sadness this past week. I mourned a…
