Someone with many thoughts cannot come up with anything to say. Instead, I will do a life update mainly using pictures.
I’ve been stressed with wedding stuff which is ironic because it is just that: stuff. In the grand scheme of things, nothing matters except marrying Ryan, yet suddenly I understand how one ends up on the news over boutonnieres! My favorite part of this is the bargains. I love a good deal, and that does not change just because I’m getting married.
For instance, Ryan initially did not even want to send wedding invitations and suddenly wanted to print save the dates from a website. First, I said that while I was not the definition of etiquette, we were sending invitations and thanks for the season of taking care of my grandma and buying a calligraphy book on Amazon. While the invitations were more than I initially wanted to pay, I bought them on sale Etsy and it was worth the DIY frustrations by having them printed for me. I filled out the black envelopes myself with my limited calligraphy skills and can check that off the list.
It was not even about the actual save the dates, but the challenge of making them and saving $60. I made them up on photoshop, printed them at Walmart’s one-hour photo, and stuck them on magnet sheets I bought off Amazon. I had random cardstock and envelope packs I bought from Hobby Lobby on clearance which supplied the envelopes to save the dates. I almost returned them because I did not have a plan for them, but thankful to have found a purpose! I might use the cardstock for guest book ideas, but that could change!

Next, came boutonnieres which I completely forgot existed. My Aunt asked me about them and I did not care enough to worry about it because I am not even carrying a bouquet. Ryan’s mom also inquired about it, and Ryan didn’t even know what it was. This led to looking up how to make my own because there was no way I am was spending an extreme amount of money on this. When Ryan came in town last weekend, we toured our venue and the coordinator told me, “Girl, don’t worry about that. Go to Hobby Lobby and get them premade 40% off.”
After working with Brent one evening, I checked Hobby Lobby, where they were sure enough! It was a Saturday, and they were not on sale yet and they are closed on Sunday, so I would’ve had to wait and then go back. Ryan said to buy them now, and I said, “No. We have time. I’ll wait for the weekly sales and get it then.” I can’t pay full price for things knowing it will eventually come around on sale. My soul dies a little at the thought.
Sure enough, Monday morning after work I went to Hobby Lobby, and all wedding items were 50% off!!! I bought all items needed, including a few corsages, for $28. I have no real color scheme pre-planned or any idea for flowers. The fact that these were 50% off, a classic look, and 50% off is how I decided. When I got home, I asked my family if they thought they would fall apart by the wedding because they were cheap.
“No? Do you plan to wear them before then??”
If I have to DIY premade boutonnieres, you can be sure there will be a blog about it.
There are a lot of anxieties and emotions tied to getting married. There is a lot involved mentally no matter how long you’ve waited for your spouse or what a blessing it is to be here finally. Change, in any fashion, is hard. Dealing with change is what I am trying to gather thoughts for an actual blog post, but at the moment, all I can talk about are these bargains because I LOVE DEALS and anything with the word wedding is the opposite!
ALSO, I went to Goodwill last weekend to see what jumped out at me. Low and behold, I saw the exact brand shoe on Amazon for $50 here for $2.99! I did not care much about the shoes because my dress will cover them anyway but did not want a heel because falling is not on my list of things to do on the wedding day. These were low heels and they looked brand new! Whoever had them before must have worn them for the ceremony and taken them off because they were in perfect condition. I just needed to clean them off a bit!
At some point, I may be able to write a decent thought-filled post. Until then, I am beyond thrilled about these finds.
Included is a TV dinner table set I’ve been wanting (for no real reason), and my neighbor had a two set on the lawn for $5! I’ve been stalking thrift stores for these tables, but they are all too pricey for the quality or not matching. I also bought a portable Coleman stove he had that I’d also been wanting for $20. I have wanted one for several reasons, but one is if/when I travel with Ryan, I can take it with us. If not, we need to do some backyard camping.
Last but not least… OUR SKI WEAR! We are going skiing for the honeymoon, and I get to wear my famous red jacket WITH MY FUTURE HUSBAND! The one I wrote the blog about… meaning the jacket and the husband. We bought both ski bibs on Amazon, used, cheaper than one pair new! All of the other items were on sale and our boots match which is hysterical. We took the ski outfit photo a couple weeks ago when Ryan was in town to put on the wedding website. It was hot outside and it was a near medical emergency, but doesn’t it look nice! Haha
I do not have the brain capacity to describe the trauma of Ryan moving my plants in the backyard at 11 PM one-night last week. That is for another post that I cannot transcribe from my thoughts yet. It was a great moment in our relationship.

A thrift store find that taught ‘charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised’…
I live in New Orleans, LA, which is almost a year round sauna with maybe four days of winter, and had a sudden desire to buy a snow outfit. 2020 can do a lot of things, but it can’t take away my dreams. I heard Academy had a sale and browsed the website Thursday evening.…
I found a man who loves me like my father loved my mom… Part 2
If you want to read how Ryan and me met and how I thought he was homeless read Part 1:I found a man who loves me like my father loved my mom… Part 1 I am currently riding as a passenger in my fiancé’s 18-wheeler headed back to New Orleans. What a loaded statement and…
I need a man who loves me like my father loved my mom.
For my third post of the day, the problem with the Hallmark channel is everything. I laughed as I typed that, but it is true. However, I am happy to report that I am thankful to watch it without yelling at the television after years of prayer. So, I watch it and have even bought…
