We drove until they shut the highway down

My blog. Hello, old friend…

We have been so busy I don’t have time to condense my thoughts. There has been no time for mind marinating these days, but a season of working and living out my blog prayers. 😃

I don’t even know what day it is anymore, but recently we had a load going to California where all the bad weather and landslides were happening. God changed our route and the new plan was exchanging trailers in Kingman, AZ with another driver and we were to take the new trailer back to Dallas. Everything was going well and I was listening to sermons and Dave Ramsey podcasts.  Ryan was napping in the bunk (finally) when suddenly it started snowing. I did not panic, but kept waiting it out. It kept getting worse, and before you know it looked like a blizzard. Not to mention it was my first experience driving in snow.  I hated to wake Ryan, but finally said, “Hey, Ryan…?” And he peeked his head through the curtain and his eyes got big. He sat in the passenger seat and was my emotional support animal for a while. Still, I did not panic and even drove a bit at night until the snow got so bad I started getting disoriented.

I wanted to finish the route strong, but with 40 miles left had to surrender because it was all too much by now.

We survived. Of course there’s a video that is posted below.😀

We have a couple weeks until our official first wedding anniversary and we joke that this job has made us married for 12 years so far. Team driving is not for the faint of heart and is an “Insta-Pot” for marriage or relationships. Can’t wait to eventually have the “bandwidth” to share some stories.

We have both repented and revisited our vows. We have both said things we shouldn’t have and have both treated each other less than how a Christian person should treat someone. However, marriage in the world is the metaphor and reason why we need a savior. I honestly do not understand how a marriage in the world could possibly work. How do you fix what would seem irredeemable without a holy and righteous mediator? Where would one go? I could never do it alone, but need a righteous God to fix what my flesh brings to ruin. It is a constant reminder of the love and forgiveness of Christ and how undeserving I am… we all are. The abundance of Grace brings tears of gratefulness.

More on that later… Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow:

Flagstaff, AZ blizzard. They shut the highway down.

Your work ethic is not your worth

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3 This job can be very stressful and challenging at times. At the same…

Seasons in the Semi

Because of my scattered brain, I have at least three blogs going at once. I started with my favorite places to drive, which led to a focused post solely on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the fall and a reflection of Ecclesiastes: to everything there is a season. Which one will I post first? Will I…

romanticize your life

What a week. So much could be said about the state of the world and the horrific events that have occurred in our country alone. The absolute evil that exists and the cheering alongside of it can be debilitating. Most of America and I have felt so much sadness this past week. I mourned a…
