So much (good) has happened since meeting Ryan, but especially our first year of marriage! I prayed for years for change and everything happened at once where life has been a nonstop adventure. For that, I am so thankful.
Ryan and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past weekend and there is a video below. We had been out on the road for five weeks straight and extremely excited about our home time. The truck has changed me in two ways: I needed to be surrounded by people and I wanted a sparkly shirt (Ryan was concerned for my mental health).
Ryan said “it would be different if you already owned a few (sparkly shirts), but you don’t. I’d want you to question me if I wanted a sequined shirt.”
I let it go after recognizing the absurdity only for him to surprise me with said shirt. I highly recommend some sparkles in your wardrobe.😄
For a while I had been wanting to have some sort of dinner party and invite everyone I’ve ever met to the house. This plan did not come to fruition, but instead a simple ordering of pizza would suffice. I invited my Italian family over and my heart was so happy, but because I didn’t have a proper head count had WAY too many pizzas which was hilarious.

We drove 26 miles across the Causeway to have a bicycling day date. Keep in mind we are truckers and out of shape. Thankfully, Ryan saw the light and took our 60 mile goal down to 25 😂. We stopped for a picnic halfway and went to a little pub/bar across the street from the car after picking up our bikes. Ryan surprised me with a date night then as well.
We also had a Brent day and I gave an entire pizza to his mom and dad as well as ate pizza with him for lunch. (Not to mention bringing pizza on the truck 😂)
For our anniversary we visited restaurants we had our first date and had an adventure in the rain. One of “our things” is visiting art museums, but we found out NOMA (New Orleans Museum of Art) is closed on Mondays so we changed course and crossed off Ryan’s bucket list by visiting the New Orleans aquarium. We walked a mile in the downpour to get to one of our favorite restaurants and thankfully they let us inside. (If you’re ever in New Orleans The Italian Barrel is chef’s kiss.). We had a WONDERFUL day in spite of the monsoon and having to leave the next day to head to an orientation for work as they moved us to another account. It is a lot more work, but a great opportunity and I am thankful. We will see how it goes and will be stories for years to come. One day, I’ll be able to write that blog. Ha
I am so blessed and thankful for Ryan. He is my answered prayer and I am so grateful that God gave me this gift as a husband. He is perfect for me and makes sure Christ is the center of our marriage. I am thankful for the life we get to build and pray we get many many years together. I am excited to see where God leads us. He is faithful.
Your work ethic is not your worth
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3 This job can be very stressful and challenging at times. At the same…
Seasons in the Semi
Because of my scattered brain, I have at least three blogs going at once. I started with my favorite places to drive, which led to a focused post solely on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the fall and a reflection of Ecclesiastes: to everything there is a season. Which one will I post first? Will I…
romanticize your life
What a week. So much could be said about the state of the world and the horrific events that have occurred in our country alone. The absolute evil that exists and the cheering alongside of it can be debilitating. Most of America and I have felt so much sadness this past week. I mourned a…

The sparkly shirt looks nice. It might also be helpful for search and rescue if your truck ever breaks down on a lonely highway at night 😀.
Congrats on Anniversary #1!!!

Thank you 🥰
Yes… That’s exactly what I was thinking about the shirt! It’s my new trucking uniform.
